Yos Vaneesorn graduated with a Bachelor's degree with first-class honors in Music Composition from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Chulalongkorn University in 2002 where he studied with Professor Dr. Narongrit Dhamabutra (National Artist 2021) . He received a scholarship to study clarinet performance at the master's level at Louisiana State University and completed his doctoral degree in 2004 at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, USA. Throughout his professional clarinet studies, Yos studied with several international instructors including Associate Professor Dr. Nophachai Cholthitchanta, Stanley Hasty, Steven Barta, Steve Cohen, and Dr. Jane Carl. During his university studies, he was selected as a member of the ASEAN Youth Orchestra in 1994 and 1995. From 1998 to 2000, he was appointed as the principal clarinetist of the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra (RBSO), and upon completing his doctoral degree, he was selected as the principal clarinetist of RBSO, a position he holds to this day.

 

Yos regularly performs as a clarinetist, including solo performances with the National Symphony Orchestra, Chulalongkorn University Orchestra, Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia, and Feroci Philharmonic Winds. He also organized the first clarinet competition in Thailand in 2013. Upon returning to Thailand, he was appointed as a clarinet instructor at Kasetsart University. Currently, Yos is a full-time clarinet professor in the Department of Western Music, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Chulalongkorn University.

In addition to his continuous musical performances, Yos is also a prolific composer. In 2017, he arranged traditional Thai music for wind ensemble in an album titled "Siam Wind Ensemble" as part of the "Music Composition Project: Rattanakosin Classical Music Repertoire" led by Professor Dr. Natchar Pancharoen, which received research funding from the Thailand Research Fund (TRF). The music was conducted by Vanich Potavanich, a Silpathorn Artist. Furthermore, in 2020, Yos organized the first online wind instrument competition in Thailand, which garnered significant interest from participants.

 

Yos has also led several research projects. In 2021 and 2022, he received research grants from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) for creative research projects titled "Music and Reconciliation" and "Siam Wind Ensemble with Thai Accents" respectively."which received research funding from the Thailand Research Fund (TRF).
