Assistant Professor Dr. Suppabhorn Suwanpakdee

Assistant Professor Dr Suppabhorn Suwanpakdee has been a full-time lecturer at the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PGVIM), School of Music in Bangkok, Thailand, since 2013. He was also the project manager of the semi-professional youth orchestra (PYO) from 2013 to 2023 and remained the project advisor in 2024. In March 2024, he was appointed the PGVIM Acting Vice President for Research.

 

Suppabhorn's unwavering dedication to his research is evident in his primary focus on creative and experimental musical paths in composition and performance. As a founding member of Ensemble Music Makers, a contemporary collective group, he leads the way in exploring inventive approaches to performance across diverse musical genres, from Western classical music to modern compositions. "Music for Society," Suppabhorn endeavours to disseminate his musical passion among the general public by engaging in participatory musical activities. He perpetuates his research in multiple projects geared towards fostering communities through their musical culture and addressing the issue of profound inequality through the lens of music, which he perceives as a fundamental human necessity. He holds a bachelor's degree in music performance with first-class honours from Silpakorn University and obtained a Master of Arts from Mahidol University. In 2017, he was conferred with a Doctorate in Fine Arts from Chulalongkorn University, having received a prestigious government scholarship for his exceptional performance.
