Our symposium marks a decade of exploring music's multifaceted role in society. From Southeast Asian classical traditions to music in virtual reality, we've examined diverse themes that illuminate music's impact on culture and human experience.
This year's theme, "Music: Conflicts and Harmony," investigates music's dual nature as both a reflection of conflict and a catalyst for harmony. We'll explore the concept of "dreamland," where music's transformative power resolves conflicts through the universal language of sound.
Our panel, comprising PGVIS team across generations – from teachers, collaborators to former students now serving as co-curators – will share insights gleaned from a decade of symposiums. We've observed how addressing musical conflicts consistently yields new harmonies and broaden our musical horizon.
Join us for this intergenerational dialogue as we delve into music's capacity to bridge divides, foster understanding, and create harmony through the very conflicts it addresses. Together, we'll explore how the paradox of continuous resolution in music echoes and influences our approach to societal challenges, and our own musical paths.
