This creative research aims to 1) present the concept and process of creating the composition titled "550. Km of Northern Thailand for Acoustic Guitar Quartet", 2) contribute knowledge to the academic field of music, and 3) disseminate the creative work "550. Km of Northern Thailand for Acoustic Guitar Quartet" to the performance.
The primary inspiration for this composition comes from the route on the map of Thailand, using the distance from Chiang Rai to Nakhon Sawan, which is 550 kilometers, as the fundamental structure for developing the main melody. The composition also reflects the influence of Lanna music, the traditional music of Northern Thailand, through a pentatonic scale that characterizes Lanna music. "550. Km" represents the distance from Chiang Rai to Nakhon Sawan (Northern Thailand). The composer utilized this route from the map as the main structural basis for the melody. Additionally, the influence of Northern Thai music culture was integrated to create harmony in the composition, drawing from Lanna music. The piece comprises seven main sections, A, B, C, D, E, F, and G, each representing different provinces along the route from Chiang Rai to Nakhon Sawan. The melody is designed to align with this route, with the total length of the composition being approximately 7 minutes. It is presented through an acoustic guitar quartet, employing complex musical techniques and blending cultural influences. It resulted in the work "550. Km of Northern Thailand for Acoustic Guitar Quartet".
