14th SEADOM Congress “Empowering Music in Society: Celebrating Diversity, Connecting Communities”

Music plays a vital role in shaping societies, fostering connections, and celebrating cultural diversity. The 14th SEADOM Congress, hosted by the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PGVIM), brings together music leaders, educators, practitioners, and students from Southeast Asia and beyond to explore how music can empower individuals and strengthen communities.

The congress features keynote sessions, panel discussions, and group dialogues, addressing themes such as soft power in ASEAN, diversity in music, cross-cultural communication, and inspiring future generations. These sessions bring together regional and international experts to explore the evolving landscape of music education, discuss challenges and opportunities in the field, and examine ways to empower artists and institutions. Discussions will also include reflections on the role of music in society, strategies for enrichment and empowerment, and practical insights for putting these ideas into action.

Through live performances and cultural presentations, the congress will also highlight the region’s diverse musical traditions, celebrating Southeast Asia’s rich artistic heritage and showcasing the talents of both students and professionals. These performances will provide a vibrant platform for creativity, cultural exchange, and artistic expression.

Pre-congress workshops provide valuable opportunities for professional growth and skill development. The Southeast Asia Music Leadership Initiative (SEAMLI) supports young music professionals by honing their leadership and collaboration skills, while the MusiQuE Peer Reviewers Training focuses on enhancing the quality of music education. Students also play an integral role in the pre-congress activities, contributing to workshops, collaborative projects, and performances, helping to shape the future of music education in the region.
